Representation

Representation is how a certain gender or group is presented in a a tv programme or music video etc. The idea behind our video is the representation of how the male is treating the female, the idea is to present the man as the domnant evil figure and the woman as the victim. All different videos would take different approaches to representing gender. Other representations or how people could be presented are as follows: Gender, Age, Class, etc. On the whole representation is shown more through tv programmes and movies. However it is easy to show representation in a powerpop video because most powerpop songs are based on love. Therefore it is easy to try and make the male or female take a certain role through the video, an example of this is: In the video Bleeding love by 'Leona Lewis' both the male and female cheat on one another and therefore they are presented as being as bad as eachother, whereas if it had been that it had been the female who was the cheat then she would be presented as the villain.
